Komarnica River Day Packraft

Summary

This is a full day adventure along Komarnica River. Join us for 14 km of spectacular whitewater packrafting with an epic canyon backdrop! The adventure will give you an opportunity to connect with one of the least known kayakable rivers in Europe in complete solitude! Komarnica is made up of class II and class III, with an occasional class IV rapid in April. It is friendly to beginners but there are plenty of rapids that even seasoned kayakers would find exciting. Furthermore, by joining us on this adventure you will contribute to the conservation of Komarnica. We will donate 10% of the profits from each tour to an NGO fighting to prevent dam construction on this river.

Itinerary

The meeting point for the adventure is Etno Selo Izlazak, approximately 45 min drive from Nikšić.

Part 1: Arrival and packraft introduction
Morning meeting at Etno Selo Izlazak, a short welcome and the introductions with the team. We will then assign you your packraft and the necessary equipment and demonstrate its setup. You will also be given a brief introduction to paddling and safety aspects of packrafting.
Part 2: Canyon hike
From Etno Selo Izlazak, we will drive to the village of Brezna where our descent into the canyon begins. After a short preparation, we’ll start a scenic 45-minute hike through untouched nature, gradually descending toward the river. The trail leads us through wild terrain and offers stunning views of the Komarnica Canyon, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.
Part 3: Packrafting
Once at the river, we’ll gear up and set off on a 14 km packrafting journey through the heart of the canyon. This stretch of Komarnica offers mostly class II and III rapids, with some more powerful class IV sections during the early spring melt. The crystal-clear waters, towering cliffs, and total wilderness will surround you as we paddle through one of the most remote and beautiful river canyons in the Balkans. We’ll take breaks to rest, swim, take photos, and soak in the dramatic landscape.
Part 4: Piva Lake boat cruise
As the river flows into the vast Piva Lake, our packrafting journey ends, but the experience continues. A motorboat will pick us up at the mouth of the river, and we’ll enjoy a relaxing cruise across the lake’s emerald waters, offering a unique perspective of the surrounding mountains and forests.
Part 5: Dinner
Back at Etno Selo Izlazak, we’ll wrap up the day with a delicious traditional Montenegrin meal and a cold beer, sharing stories from the river and enjoying the cozy atmosphere of this authentic village setting. It’s the perfect way to end an unforgettable day of adventure.
